Description
Made of yellow birch, through shot pins were used in the logging industry to fasten logs together to make a boom. Booms were used to gather together 3,500 - 4000 cords of pulp wood for transport across a lake so the logs could continue down the next river. This early method of connecting logs to making a boom was replaced by boom chains.
